Re-Creation...Use Exercise to Fuel Your Creativity

April 15, 2017

“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.” -John F. Kennedy

Wouldn’t we all like to be a bit more creative? Wouldn’t we all like to be a more fit? The Lifestyle Project believes that there is a huge benefit to pairing the two ideas together.  Re-create your self through recreational activities.

Everyone has heard of writers block, or other creativity droughts. Sometimes forcing ourselves to be creative is counter productive. More does not always mean more return. A simple approach to re-invigorate our creative side is to go get active.

Whether it means doing pushups in your office, or going out for an afternoon walk, the body will push out the cortisol which prevents your inventive abilities. According to Keith Sawyer, PHD, and author of Group Genius:The Creative Power of Collaboration “Physical activity gets your mind into the bodily experience, so that subconscious connections can pop up.”

By getting out of your head a bit and more “into your body”, your mind will begin to do a bunch of work for you as it makes new neural connections. Not only is exercise good for our health, but it will help bring in more oxygen to the brain and combat mental fatigue. This is becoming even more relevant as we are also seeing a revolution in the way we work. A lot of modern companies are encouraging their employees to introduce exercise, meditation, or even sleep into their work days. The reason is simple, people are not only feeling better about work, but they are becoming more productive.

For us to benefit from this to the maximum, The Lifestyle Project suggests building this bridge between activities into our day to day. We ask you, how can you find time to combine fitness with your creative work in a way that works best for you? Experiment with it and see if you notice anything different?   The real key is to return to the creative work after the fitness.

The Lifestyle Project thinks about how we can increase our customer’s creativity and well-being when they travel. The Re-invention trip we are planning is built around bridging our active lifestyles with our creative endeavors. We will offer an immersive environment that focuses on re-creating the new, unstoppable you, all when you are on a cultural holiday. Stay tuned for the launch coming soon!

Life is too short not play with your potential.
