What Does Your Ideal Day Look Like?

The realities of the world don’t always line up with our ideals. Realists take things as they are, dreamers imagine up ways of how things could be. The realist is grounded in the present moment, and this largely how we should be mentally. Too much time is lost in our concerns with the past or our anxieties of the future. When we imagine the future, our minds take us out of the present moment and transport us to a wonderful place of creative thought where an optimism tempts our present action. We definitely need a mix of the two in order to progress as societies and individuals, but today we want to emphasize the powerful force of the dreamer and setting our ideals.

We all know that things don’t always go as planned. Life throws us all many curve balls. Nature herself is an unpredictable beauty, but when we throw in politics, relationships and the inevitable tragedies of being human, we are faced with an incalculable set of challenges. We can accept this, and we can all adapt coping mechanisms to find moments of order in the chaos. We have to admit to ourselves that we cannot control everything, and that there are many unknowns in this life. The dreamer though, finds ways to navigate through the unknown and takes responsibility for painting up one’s own destiny.

Setting our ideals for the world, for ourselves, allows us to take steps closer to those realities. We may set the bar extremely high, and we may never actually get to those “perfect” places, but we will get so much further than we would if we didn’t try. We all hold the idea of freedom as a high objective for the human experience. What does freedom mean to you?

So what does your ideal day look like? If everything went exactly as expected, what would you be doing? How would you be feeling? Where would you be? Who would you be spending your time with and how would you be enjoying the world? Try and take this imagination exercise seriously and really think about the possibilities. From the time you wake up, to the time you go to sleep, what would those 24 hours consist of?

Whether you use visualization to see it in your mind, or write it out on a sheet of paper, we encourage you to notice the feeling you get. Feel how the enthusiasm begins to blossom. There is an energy that begins to stir within you, and that force can be magically empowering.

We understand that it might not all be realistic, but if we really think about it, surely some of it must be. What are the reasons that they wouldn’t be possible and what excuses are we making for not attaining those ideals? What we will likely notice is that the barriers we set for ourselves are not as big as we think they would be. The Lifestyle Project thinks that even if we can act out 25 % of those ideals, that we will obviously see drastic improvements in our daily lives.

We must be kind with ourselves, learn to enjoy the process and take action on our dreams because no one else will make those changes for us. If we don’t have a clear set of ideals, we will have a difficult time getting there. If you don’t shoot, you don’t score.
